Heirloom specialties

Mountain Falls Farm produces a broad variety of vegetables in limited quantities. We like to grow the unusual or heirloom varieties not generally available in grocery stores. These typically include: five varieties of heirloom potatoes like Adirondack Red or creamy Satina; three varieties of onions; three varieties of string beans (dragon’s tongue!); a dozen varieties of heirloom tomatoes; arugula; kale; colorful lettuces; sorrel; mustard greens; horseradish; Jerusalem artichokes; kohlrabi; turnips; cabbage; and unusual varieties of summer and winter squash. Herbs and edible flowers are also grown in the garden.

Seasonal offerings

Peaches, pears, raspberries, and edible grapes are grown in limited quantities and are available seasonally. Many of the old heirloom apple trees have been pruned to enhance new growth and flowering; but since we do not spray the trees, their apples generally have blemishes and apple worms and cannot be sold.  Every few years, when weather conditions are just right, there is a naturally salable crop with some blemishes, but few bugs. We sell these at a big discount to supermarkets as apples for pies and apple sauce.

Our meat, produce, honey and maple syrup are sold at the Salisbury, Connecticut Farmers Market on Saturdays; to local restaurants; and to friends and customers on our e-mail distribution list. Products may be purchased at the farm by appointment.
